¡¡¡¡With the Yueqing Economic Zone taking the lead, the city has established 57
industrial subzones with 3.1 million square metres of standard factory buildings and more than
1,000 enterprises. These firms are scattered on both sides of the Yueqing
section of State Highway 104 to form an "industrial corridor" more than 50
kilometres in length. Among Yueqing's 45 group companies are 19 national ones
which form the baackbone of a local industrial setup which consists of
electrical appliance, electronics, machinery, meters and apparatuses, garment,
leather tanning, and foodstuff processing industries, aquaculture, and arts and
crafts. Along State Highway 104 are also 15 industrial satellite towns each
turning out a distinctive line of products and backed by a sizeable scale of
production and marketing base. These include Liushi Town, producing low-voltage
electrical appliances; Hongqiao Town, which supplies electronics components;
Furong Town, known for its drilling tips; Baishi, specializing in rubber
products; Beibaixiang and Panshi towns, producing garments for nationwide sales.
Relying on science and technology, paying due attention to product quality, and
constantly tightening up the management, Yueqing is developing a balanced
industrial structure in which enterprises coordinate with one another and make
up for each other's deficiencies.
