Enchanting Landscape
¡¡¡¡The Yandang Mountain, or Mountain with the Wild Geese's Lake, is a national scenic resort and one of the ten most
famous mountains in China. The name of the mountain is derived from the fact
that its crest is covered with a lake whose large patches of reed make an
excellent habitat for wild geese in autumn migration. The scenic resort,
covering an area of 450 square kilometres, is a turmoil of peaks in exotic
images, rocks in fabulous shapes, and rock faces scooped into many mysterious
stone caves and chambers. Waterfalls make a great spectacle as they tumble down
the brows of vertical cliffs. The Central Yandang Mountain, covering 80 or so
square kilometres, appeals to visitors with its mountains, lakes and waterfalls.
The discovery of Neolithic artefacts at Yangliutan, and the Third Lunar Month
Festival in Baishi, a famed town in south Zhejiang, have added a folklorish
touch to the scene.
