The Jianhu lake, also known as the Mirror Lake ,is located in the southwestern part of Shaoxing County. This lake has vast mist-covered waters and picturesque sights. In ancient times the Jianhu Lake was 358 li in circumference. Today's Jianhu lake normally refers to the river system from the East Kuahu Bridge in the west of Shaoxing to the West Kuahu Bridge in Hutang Town, about 100 li in circumference.

    The Jianhu Lake is a provincial-grade scenic spot,around which there are numerous places of historical interest. Since the Tang Dynasty it has attracted innumerable poets and writers and left the famous and eternal verse:"You needn't buy a famous picture with gold;just listen to my reciting a poem about Jianhu."From the Jianhu Lake you can see blue peaks one behind the other in the distance,a most exhilarating experience of admiring hills from on water. If you go boating on the lake you will enjoy the full gusto of feeling that "the person is in the mirror and the boat sails in the picture ."
